Rosacea is a long term inflammatory skin condition which affects both the blood vessels and the skin. Although men tend to get more aggressive symptoms, it is more common in women – however this skin condition can affect both men and women. It is thought that as many as one in ten women between the ages of 30 and 55 struggle with the symptoms of rosacea.

The National Rosacea Society has designated April as Rosacea Awareness Month to help educate the public about this common skin disorder. We would like to take the month of April as a time which we dedicate ourselves to better understanding all the elements of rosacea, including what it is and how to treat it.

Lets take a closer look…

The first signs of rosacea can include:

  • Redness (blushing) across your nose, cheeks, forehead and chin that comes and goes.
  • A burning or stinging sensation when using water or skincare products.

As rosacea gets worse, your cheeks, nose and forehead will be read the majority of the time, if not all the time, and tiny broken blood vessels will appear on your skin – you will find that these will not go away.

Other symptoms can include:

  • Dry skin.
  • Swelling, especially around the eyes.
  • Yellow/orange patches on the skin .

Rosacea is linked to multiple factors, including hormonal changes, diet and lifestyle. It is primarily seen in fairer skinned individuals and its likely to run in families. There is also a possible link to UVA/UVB damage but frustratingly, the real cause is unknown.

Phyt’s have a cream designed entirely for redness, this cream is called ‘Phyt’s Creme Capyl‘. This cream provides instant relief to skin with redness. It produces a real feeling of comfort and softness.
